KNUST BSc Midwifery

The practice of midwifery has been practiced for centuries. Professionals with training in midwifery care and support women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the immediate postpartum period. Midwives are renowned for their all-encompassing approach to care, offering women psychological, physical, and emotional assistance throughout the entire process.

KNUST BSc Midwifery program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality material and newborn healthcare in Ghana and beyond.

The program includes both theoretical and practical components, with students learning about topics such as antenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and neonatal care.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the licensing examination to become registered midwives in Ghana.

Duration of KNUST BSc Midwifery course

The KNUST BSc Midwifery is a four-year (4) degree program which leads to the award of the degree in Midwifery.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in fieldwork and research projects, which provide hands on experience and allow them to apply the concepts they have learned in a practical setting.

What are grades needed for KNUST BSc Midwifery Course

The basic requirements are that applicants should have credits passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects’ core subject English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social. Elective subjects Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics.

KNUST BSc Midwifery Entry Requirement (Regular)

Applicant must satisfy university’s requirements. To be qualified for admission the prospective applicants must have following minimum requirements.

WASSCE/SSSCE

• Credit passes in three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies.
• Credit passes in three (3) elective subjects: Biology, Physics, Elective Mathematics, Chemistry

A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS

Five (5) credits at O’ Level, including English Language, Mathematics, Science Subject additional three (3) A’ Level in the Science: Physics or Mathematics, Chemistry or Biology.
