Renowned waakye vendor, Auntie Imoro Muniratu, affectionately known as Auntie Muni, has passed away at the age of 72.She succumbed to a brief illness at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra on Wednesday, January 3. Alhassan Abdul Arafat, her son, confirmed the sad news.
Auntie Muni’s health initially declined, leading to her admission at the SSNIT Hospital. However, due to unforeseen complications, she opted for discharge.
Auntie Muni was a revered figure in the food industry, particularly known for her mouth-watering waakye. Her food stall was a favorite haunt for both locals and tourists, not just for the scrumptious meals but also for the hospitable environment she cultivated.
News of her passing has elicited an outpouring of tributes, underscoring her significant influence in the community. The family plans to hold her funeral and burial in Tamale to honor her remarkable legacy.
